Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Torreira move ‘done’, big Soyuncu development, deal next month
Thursday June 14
Seri transfer latest
Napoli are in the driving seat to sign Arsenal target Jean Michael-Seri, says the Nice ace’s agent, Franklin Mala.
“We hope to have positive news in the next fews hours in Naples,” Mala explained to CalcioNapoli24. “Informal contacts with Napoli, there is still no lunge from De Laurentiis’ company.
“We are ready to meet Napoli. Napoli is in pole position. Seri prefers the Piazza di Napoli compared to others, all in such a way as to close the negotiation.
“The €40m (£35m) termination clause expires on July 15, so you have to pay it by this date. After July 15, Nice can ask for any amount.
“Arsenal? No, I do not want to talk about it. There are two teams of the Premier [League] on Seri. I cannot say anything else. Image rights are not an obstacle.”
Arsenal will reportedly announce the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund next month.
Papastathopoulos is on the Gunners’ shortlist as they desperately look to strengthen their defence this summer.
And a deal has been in the works for weeks, with Sven Mislintat enjoying a good relationship with former club, Dortmund.
ESPN believe Arsenal and Dortmund have already agreed for Papastathopoulos to move to north London.
But the switch will only come to light next month to fall in with Dortmund’s fiscal calendar.
Big Soyuncu development
Arsenal transfer target Caglar Soyuncu will reportedly make a decision on his future after Eid on Sunday.
The Freiburg centre-back is on Sven Mislintat’s wanted list as he looks to bolster Unai Emery’s squad.
And Turkish-Football claim he will decide where he’s off to this summer after Ramadan ends this weekend.
Soyuncu will follow Stephan Lichsteiner in strengthening Arsenal’s defence if he moves to the Emirates.
He could be joined in north London by Greece and Borussia Dortmund ace Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Torreira move ‘done’
Arsenal have completed the signing of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria but are simply yet to announce it.
That’s according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has broken the news to a fan on social media.
Torreira has emerged as a top target for Arsenal as they look to add some bite to their midfield.
And Romano says the Uruguayan will be rocking up at the Emirates after the World Cup finishes.
“[Torreira] is done mate! But I don’t know when [it] will be announced,” said Romano, when asked about a deal on Twitter.
