With his contract ending Downey Jr’s Iron Man is expected to bow out some how in Avengers 4.
Whether he dies or not remains a mystery but he may be getting a replacement in Ironheart.
The black female superhero, also known as Riri Williams, is mentored by Tony Stark in the Marvel comics and takes up the Iron Man mantle in his place.
And now a script for an Ironheart movie is doing the rounds in Hollywood.
The Ironheart script by Jada Rodriguez has impressed many since its appearance on the Hollywood Black List.
The list is made up of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood
The Black List’s official Twitter feed teased the plot: “When a young African American girl loses hope in humanity, she dedicates her life, with the help of Tony Stark, to becoming a superhero… not knowing she is her own worst enemy…”
An Ironheart movie after Avengers 4 would not be surprising after recent comments by Marvel boss Kevin Feige.
Speaking with Screen Rant recently he said: “Eventually I think we’re going to reach a time where it’s not just… listen, it would be amazing to see all of our female characters the way we have seen … most, never all male, but primarily male.
“I think we’re getting to the point soon where we have so many great female characters that those are just our heroes as opposed to when are they all female, all male.
“It’s just the Marvel heroes, more than half of which will be women.”
Other likely new female superheroes to join in Marvel Phase 4 include Ant-Girl aka Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop aka female Hawkeye.
Meanwhile Captain Marvel and presumably Black Panther’s sister Shuri will have more prominent roles in the franchise moving forwards.
Avengers 4 will be release in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
