Hawkeye, aka Clint Barton, has been missing for a while now. Whether he has actually been missed is open to debate.
Infinity War explained his absence as a desire to to protect his family from further government pressure following his traitorous actions in Civil War.
He had already shed his more distinctive Hawkeye costume trappings by then, notably the ‘distinctive’ (but actually barely visible) dark purple/burgundy flourishes.
A new leaked Avengers 4 artwork shows his costume in the upcoming blockbuster.
Never one to do anything remotely interesting or outrageous, Clint is shown in all-black armour.
Howewer, it is actually extremely interesting since it seems to finally confirm two major plot points.
Firstly he may no longer be Hawkeye and secondly his alliegiances have changed again.
While some characters like Steve Rogers have shed the Infinity War rebel look and are back suited up as team members, Clint appears to have done the opposite and fully become Ronin.
Clint’s new look matched what he wore in the comics when he took on the Ronin identity, which was named after the term for a lone samurai who had no master in Japan’s feudal past.
This clearly signals Clint may not have necessarily become an Avenger again.
However he has changed sides, sort of.
Clint, like all the original Avengers mysteriously survived The Snap but why has he come back now? Has his family been killed by Thanos’ catastrophic act?
Whatveer the reason, the archer is shown heading into battle by the side of Iron Man, signalling the divisions from Civil War have been put aside, temporarily at least.
How it will all end, though, is still anyone’s guess
AVENGERS 4 IS OUT ON APRIL 27, 2019
