Devastated fans watched some of their favourite characters crumble to dust in front of their eyes. Not to mention half of all life across the universe.
We saw kings, heroes and one teenage tree all fall – but these are all mortals.
What about some of the more powerful beings?
Loki died, but at Thanos’ hands, and Thor survived along with his fellow original Avengers. But there are more than gods and mortals across the MCU and one of them is definitely planning on making a big comeback.
He told Digital Spy: “I could be, potentially, very much around. Anything they (Marvel) want me to do, I’d be ready and able.
“Grandmaster is more superheroed than all of them put together. You can’t kill me, I’m like a vampire. I’m deathless and I can kill people by looking at them. Or I can resurrect them just by looking at them and thinking of them. I can do everything…
“So really I’m everywhere and nowhere.”
This also gives hope for Benicio del Toro’s Collector, whose fate was rather ambiguous. Fans saw him tortured and caged by Thanos on Knowhere, but it was a reality stone illusion. Did the Mad Titan really leave him alive?
These two Celestials may favour rather flamboyant wardrobes and ridiculous mannerisms, but they are still incredibly powerful and important parts of the MCU.
It’s unlikely fans have seen the last of either of them…
