Cristiano Ronaldo: Harry Kane told to break Tottenham hearts and join Real Madrid | Football | Sport

That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.

Ronaldo today completed his move from Real Madrid to Juventus.

Kane has been linked with a move to the La Liga giants in the past but has always maintained he is happy at Tottenham.

But Nicol believes it would be the wrong career choice if he rejected Real and stayed in north London.

“As a professional player, I think you have to try and play with the best,” he said.

“If it means breaking a few hearts along the way, sometimes it just happens.

“If I’m Harry Kane, I’m going to Real Madrid.”

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has also been linked with Real Madrid this summer.

And Nicol believes Real should go after the Pole if they cannot land Kane.

“All these names we’re talking about, there is a fair percentage chance that it doesn’t happen,” he added.

“You’ve got to make sure you get something. So what’s wrong with Lewandowski?

“He’s been trying to talk his way out of there, they don’t seem to be very happy with what he’s been saying either.

“He wasn’t particularly brilliant last season I have to admit, but the guy’s got quality.”
