That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Alisson has been linked with a move to Liverpool since the January transfer window.
However, reports claimed on Monday they would not pursue a deal as they were put off by Roma’s £80million price tag.
That would be the world-record transfer fee for a goalkeeper and would also break Liverpool’s transfer record.
But Hislop thinks it would be money well spent by the Reds and would complete their defence after the arrival of Virgil van Dijk last season.
“I think he’s worth it to Liverpool without question,” Hislop said.
“I think if Liverpool are to continue to contend at the higher ends of European football, if they are to threaten the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United, one of the holes they’ve got to plug is in-between the sticks.
“Alisson goes a long way to that.
“You spend £75m on a centre-back – I still think as a defensive unit it’s incomplete.
“You need a goalkeeper who can hold up their end as well.”
Speaking today, Alisson claimed he was concentrating on the upcoming World Cup amid speculation over his Roma future.
He said: “I’m focused 100 per cent on training here.
“My representative is dealing with all questions along with Roma.”
