Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho makes bold Victor Lindelof decision | Football | Sport

Lindelof struggled last season after joining Manchester United from Benfica in a deal worth £31m.

He looked shaky and flustered at the back, but has shone in Russia for Sweden.

And Jose Mourinho is ready to hand him more game-time next season and will knock back any offers for him this summer, according to the Sun.

It is claimed a number of clubs are keen on signing the 23-year-old centre-back on loan including his former side.

He made just 13 appearances in the league last term but will be expected to make more this time around.

This comes despite United’s interest in signing another centre-back this summer.

Toby Alderweireld is United’s top target and Eric Bailly is expected to be first choice next term.

That would mean bad news for the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo who may be moved on.

Rio Ferdinand has been impressed with Lindelof and thinks United need to believe in him more.

“He didn’t seem to have the confidence in a Manchester United shirt that I’ve seen in a Sweden shirt,” he said.

“The manager, the staff, the players in that team look like they believe in this boy.

“It doesn’t seem he has that at the moment at Manchester United and that’s what’s affected him.”
