The French outfit released a statement on Twitter earlier today claiming their star man had not completed a £53m transfer to Anfield.
Lyon insisted all rumours were false and an official announcement would be made on their website should any deal eventually go through.
However, it looks as though Fekir will be announced as a Liverpool player on Friday after undergoing a medical in France.
And both Reds and Arsenal fans are saying the same thing after Lyon’s deflection tactics this morning.
The Gunners signed Alexandre Lacazette from the Ligue 1 outfit back in 2017 despite the club playing hardball throughout negotiations.
And many fans in north London think Lyon are up to their old tricks.
One tweeted: “They did the same with Lacazette so yeah welcome Fekir!”
While one said: “Lyon play these games a lot. Did the same for Lacazette to Arsenal. It’s most likely they’re waiting for the stock exchange to change.”
And one wrote: “Best to just ignore Lyon coming out and denying all Fekir to Liverpool rumours. They did the exact same thing (quite literally identical) with Lacazette who then signed for Arsenal just three days later.”
While another added: “Didn’t Lyon deny Lacazette transfer to Arsenal last year too?? Dont read too much into their statement.”
Fekir is still with the France national team ahead of the World Cup later this month.
The Frenchman could feature this evening as Didier Deschamps’ side take on the USA.
